Soap Maker Batch Cost Calculator

Original price was: $22.95.Current price is: $14.95.

A batch of soap is bought by weight and sold by the bar, and the number that decides whether it pays is the one in between: what one bar from that batch truly costs. This calculator builds it from your own rows — type each batch’s ingredients with their typed weights and what that weight costs the batch, and the sheet totals the batch cost, then divides it by your typed yield in bars and adds your typed packaging cost per bar.

The inputs are soap inputs only — oils, fats, fragrance and additives, weighed per batch. That is a different shape from the Home Bakery Cost Calculator — Cottage Food, which divides a recipe’s batch cost by servings and pieces; this one leads with batch weight and a yield in bars, and a jewellery piece’s components (the Jewelry Maker Pricing Calculator) or a candle’s batch (the Handmade Candle Business Cost Calculator) get their own workbooks again. This is a cost calculator only: it holds no recipes, no formulation steps, no lye-safety instructions and no cosmetic or health claims — it does arithmetic on the weights and costs you type, and nothing else.

The sample costs three batches, and two of them are the same batch at two sizes — which is the point. The small Lavender Castile batch costs $20.60 and yields 8 bars at $3.03 a bar; the large batch costs $55.65, yields 26 bars, and lands at $2.52 a bar — the same recipe, $0.51 less per bar, printed side by side on the Batch Size & Price Check tab. The Rosewood & Amber batch is the dearest per bar at $3.96, and the summary shows why: $11.85 of its $31.00 batch cost is fragrance, a 38.2% share, against 14.1% on the small lavender batch. The Price Check tests that $3.96 bar at $6.50 (keeps $2.54), $5.00 (keeps $1.04) and $3.50 — which loses $0.46 a bar, flagged BELOW COST in the open.

HOW IT WORKS
– ‘Batch Costings’: type each batch’s ingredient rows (ingredient in your own words, typed weight, cost for the batch). The batch cost totals itself; in the summary, type the yield in bars and packaging per bar and the cost per bar calculates.
– The fragrance share prints per batch: the cost of the rows with ‘fragrance’ in their name, as a share of the batch cost.
– ‘Batch Size & Price Check’: name the two sizes of one batch and their cost per bar sits side by side with the saving per bar; then test up to three selling prices against one batch’s cost per bar, with any price below cost flagged.

WHAT’S INSIDE
– A per-batch cost build from typed ingredient weights and costs — oils, fats, fragrance, additives
– Cost per bar by explicit arithmetic: batch cost ÷ typed yield in bars + typed packaging per bar
– A batch-size comparison from the sample’s own numbers: $3.03 a bar small vs $2.52 a bar large
– The fragrance-heavy batch named as the most expensive per bar ($3.96), with its 38.2% fragrance share printed
– A three-price check with a below-cost price flagged plainly (sample: $3.50, -$0.46)
– Plus the standard Expense Log, zero-based Monthly Budget, Dashboard and Monthly Summary tabs

Every weight, ingredient cost, yield, packaging cost and price in this workbook is an example setting you type — the sheet does arithmetic on your figures only, and never tells you what to charge.

How it works: the seven tabs are Start Here (your settings + step-by-step), the two feature tabs, Expense Log, Monthly Budget (zero-based), Dashboard and Monthly Summary. Yellow cells are the only places you type — every yellow value is your own entry. Formula cells are locked (password: sheetdaily, disclosed on the Start Here tab) and every formula is error-wrapped, so an untouched sheet reads blank instead of showing error codes. Instant download, ready for Excel and Google Sheets.

A note on the sample data: every price and date in this workbook is example data, typed in by hand to show you how the sheet behaves. Replace it with your own.
