A South Asian wedding is not one party — it is a week of them, and a single-line budget hides every problem until the invoices land. This planner gives each event its own budget, its own guest count and its own cost per guest: Holud / Gaye Holud, Mehndi, Wedding Ceremony and Walima / Reception are pre-filled as EXAMPLES, and every name is yours to rename — Nikah, Sangeet, Anand Karaj, whatever your week actually holds.
The sample week tells the truth in both directions. The Mehndi runs $460 OVER its $8,000 budget and is flagged on its own row — it cannot hide inside the week. The ceremony carries 350 guests at $76.97 a head; the Holud carries 120 at $51.00. Shared costs — outfits, jewellery, photography, invitations — are tracked separately because they are bought once for every event, then rolled up: $62,900 of events plus $15,835 shared makes a $78,735 grand total against an $80,400 budget, $1,665 under, with a 5% contingency buffer shown separately on top ($82,671.75 with buffer) instead of quietly padded into prices.
Nothing in the event list or the shared lines is a requirement. They are editable starting points — rename them, split them, delete them. The sheet follows your entries, not a rulebook.
What it does for you:
– Budgets BY EVENT — each event with its own budget, actuals, guest count and cost per guest
– Flags any event that goes over its own budget, even when the week as a whole stays under
– Tracks shared costs (outfits, jewellery, photography, invitations) separately and rolls them into one grand total
– Shows a contingency buffer (your % setting) separately — never folded silently into prices
– Every event name and shared line is an editable EXAMPLE — rebuild the week your way
– Adds a planning expense log, zero-based monthly budget, dashboard and 12-month summary
