Most net worth trackers assume one person. Couples are not one person: the house is joint, the pension is hers, the student loan is his, and the single combined number — however comforting — hides exactly the facts a couple needs to see. This tracker keeps the ownership on every line and prints three net worths, not one.
Every asset and debt is tagged Partner A, Partner B or Joint. Then the sheet says the quiet part out loud. In the sample, Partner A’s own accounts stand at +$112,400. Partner B’s stand at −$25,500: a $96,000 professional student loan against $81,900 of own assets. The combined net worth is +$388,050 — real, positive, and not the whole story. Both halves are printed, because a couple planning around only the combined figure is planning around half the truth.
Underneath: total assets $923,000, total debts $534,950, a debt-to-asset ratio of 58.0% printed next to the totals (a growing combined number cannot hide a growing debt load), and each partner’s figure including their share of the joint pool (an EXAMPLE 50/50 split setting — set yours).
Then the habit that makes it a system: the Monthly Snapshots tab. Twelve sample months climb from $352,400 to $388,050 — +$35,650 over the year, best month +$5,525 — and the latest row pulls LIVE from the Assets & Debts tab, so the log can never drift away from the accounts it summarises. Account tax labels are your own words throughout; the sheet records them and never assumes a tax treatment.
What it does for you:
– Tags every asset and debt Partner A / Partner B / Joint — ownership is never averaged away
– Prints each partner’s own net worth, including the negative one, plus the joint and combined figures
– Shows the debt-to-asset ratio (58.0% in the sample) beside the headline number
– Adds a 12-month snapshot log whose latest month updates itself from the live accounts
– Reports the 12-month change, average monthly change and best month
– Account tax labels are your own — no tax treatment is ever assumed
– Adds a household expense log, zero-based monthly budget, dashboard and 12-month summary
